I snapped this shot at 7:51 p.m. tonight.
I was headed Southward down Edwardsville-Galena Road, and the colors outside my passenger window were too fantastic not to photograph.
There’s so many things that make me happy here, I don’t know where to start, but I’ll begin with the time of the photo. It was nearly eight o’clock and headlights were hardly even necessary.
When I got out of my car, I was wearing running tights and a long-sleeve, thin pull-over, no coat. It wasn’t cold and I didn’t have to step in snow, not even when I walked around to the side of the road, standing in the grass with my camera held above my head, snapping pictures of the sky.
And, of course, the colors. This shot – which, I realize, looks like a photo taken with a Fisher Price kids camera – still captures a taste of how orange our sky can be. Like it’s on fire, with flames that fade into pinks and purples.
Summer’s coming and I can barely contain myself.
What do you think?
